Short Excerpt Echoes from the Past

Her smile disappeared and she came to her feet once more. "I, uh, was on the road when  I saw your daughter in trouble. Actually, I’m looking for Judith Kelly. The last address I have for her is this place."
The hair on the back of Garrett’s neck stood up and a band tightened around his chest. "Why?"
"Do you know her?"
Know her? Garrett stared at Christie, searching for God knew what. He saw only honest inquiry on her face. "Why do you ask?" he said instead, knowing there was an edge to his voice.
"She’s my sister. I need to find her."
"Christ." Garrett took a deep breath, then another. He cleared his head. "Judith had no family."
Now Christie’s eyes widened. "She left home a long time ago, but she had family."
"Can you prove that?"
"I -- I can’t. At least, not at this moment. I had a letter from her."
"Let me see the letter."
"I don’t have it on me."
Beginning to feel annoyed, Garrett half turned away. "I need my housekeeper to look at your head and then I'll call you a taxi." Christie hurried behind him as he walked up the drive to the house.
"Listen, just tell her Christie’s here," she said urgently. "It's been a long time but I know she’ll see me."
"You can’t see her."
She grabbed his arm. "I’ve come a long way."
Garrett stopped, fighting the dull numbness inside his chest. He faced her squarely. "My wife -- Judith, died almost two years ago."

Short excerpt Echoes from the Past

She looked up the hill toward the house and went still. "That little girl -- Hannah --  she’s Judith’s, isn’t she?"
"What is it you really want?" he said, balled fists on his hips.
She looked up at him, her dark hair falling away from her face. "I don’t want anything from you. I told you why I’m here. It seems now like it was a fool’s errand." Her voice broke. "But if Hannah is my niece, I have a right to know."

Upcoming Titles!!

Echoes from the Past is available on Kindle. This is the first in the Women of Character Series, all stand alone books about women facing issues of modern living with strength and integrity.

Christie is on the run from her life. She's had so much loss, her sister Ellen's death after a long illness, custodial loss of her sister's young son -- emotionally, she's exhausted. She leaves home, landing in Kentucky, finding the address on a 2 year old letter from her oldest sister Judith, who ran away when Christie was small. Instead of finding her sister, she finds Judith's husband and little girl, and so, three wounded souls doing the best they can, just needing to realize all they need is each other to heal.

Next in the series is Once and Always, a contemporary romance about a woman who's fallen on hard times. She losing her ranch due to an accident years before which left her with facial scarring. She must take drastic action to save her home, and leases it to the only man she ever loved, the man whom her family jailed and then ran out of town eight years before.

Heartstealer is 3rd in the series, a contemporary romance about a fun loving woman stunt skydiver who's lost her edge after a devastating skydiving accident. She takes an assignment at a ranch resort in the Catskill Mountains, hoping to regain her life and her equillibrium. What she doesn't count on is the blue eyed, no nonsense owner of the resort.

The next and 4th Book in the series is Wishing on a Rodeo Moon. Tye is a risk taking, partying cowgirl, a circuit bullrider at the top of her class, until the night a bull drops dead and pins her beneath him. She loses her leg below the knee and must figure out who she is without rodeo, something that defined her life for so long. Rodeo also lost her the man she loved -- Jake. When solid, dependable Jake offers a lending hand, Tye wonders if they can ever recapture the love they once had.

Echoes from the Past on Kindle

"Echoes from the Past" now available on Kindle.  This contemporary romance is the first stand alone book in the Women of Character Series.

I wrote this story long before I had any experience with cancer, and while the main character Christie takes care of a sister who ultimately dies from this disease, when I pulled this manuscript out and re-read it, it brought back so many memories of my own family member's battle with cancer, which happened after this story was written.  Although cancer and alcoholism can be seen as minor themes in this contemporary romance, the heroine Christie's life is overshadowed by these family experiences in her life.

Christie's basically on the run from her life, overloaded, and just needing to heal so she takes off on a quest to share memories of her deceased sister with another sister she hasn't seen since she was a child.  She ends up in Kentucky and meets the hero Garrett and her sister's daughter Hannah, and therein the story really begins.

Christie, Garrett and Hannah all need healing, but of course on that journey they all push each other this way and that way and AWAY from each other, until ultimately, the healing journey begins.

I hope you enjoy my romance "Echoes from the Past" as much as I enjoyed writing it. Check back to see when Once and Always, Heartstealer and Wishing on a Rodeo Moon are also available.
