Once Upon a Remembrance time travel FRee

Once Upon a Remembrance, book one in my time travel trilogy, will be free a few days this week, starting Sunday, July 21. Links to various countries below.

http://www.amazon.com/Remembrance-Women-Strength-Travel-ebook/dp/B008WBSWY0

Once Upon a Remembrance: Book 1 Women of Strength time travel trilogy: Photographer Isabeau Remington travels to 1894 Virgina and falls in love with a man she must ultimately leave behind when she returns to her own time…but things are not always as they seem.

Modern day photographer Isabeau is pulled from the present time and thrust back into the year 1894 in Virginia. She must help save Hawk Morgan, a man threatened by a killer, a man endangered by his own erased memories. Hawk must survive in 1894 so his present day ancestor Pierce Morgan, will be alive in Isabeau’s future.

Isabeau begins to fall in love with Hawk Morgan but with both their future’s uncertain and a killer on the loose, neither one of them may have a tomorrow to look forward to.

This has been an experiment with Amazon Kindle since February of this year and this will probably be the last book I offer for FRee this year. So grab your copy, please make sure it’s marked free when you do purchase. Have fun. As always, reviews appreciated if you enjoy the book. Thanks! :-)

KDP Select Experiment

I’ve followed quite a few blogs about KDP select and how other authors are doing with this program. You have to commit for 3 months to Amazon only for your book, at least in eBook format.

I’ve tried KDP select twice, once when I had just signed up to place my eBooks on Amazon Kindle, and had only 1 of my romance eBooks available — and just recently, February 17 to 21st, where I now have a back list of 9 romances.
Today’s post is about the difference between that first experience and now, 8 months later. Keep in mind this is only my experience. But I have seen a difference in my sales just the last two weeks.

In June I placed my first eBook in the KDP select program. I signed up for the 3 months and utilized the 5 free days for Echoes from the Past, a contemporary romance. I split up the days, never really giving the book a chance to go somewhere. I  gave away 900 free copies the first 2 days, and the final 3 days in July I gave away 600 copies. It bumped me from about 200k in the ranking down to about 10k in the ranking.  After two weeks, my book went back to the 200k ranking and sometimes higher.

Below is the chart for sales in 2012. The books slowly grew in sales for the most part, beginning with the first book end of April at 2 sales. Once “Echoes from the Past” was off the free days my 3 other books in the series “Once and Always, Heartstealer” and “Wishing on a Rodeo Moon” made up most of the sales, but not “Echoes from the Past.”

By October I had added Book 1 and 2 in the time travel series, “Once Upon a Remembrance” and “Soulmates Through Time.” By November I had added two Short Romances, “Two Babies, a Cowboy and Sara” and “Deception.” For the month of December I did a special promo where all my romances were $1.99 and I also utilized Google adwords for that holiday month.sales 2012
By now all my books were available on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords and all their channels, however, most of my books sold via Amazon Kindle as noted below. I did not have any books in the KDP Select program since July 2012.

I had “Treasure So Rare” Book 3 in the time travel trilogy ready to be published mid-January, so I decided to try KDP select for this romance. Having done more research on the KDP select program, I chose to take the 5 free days at once and just see what happened.

I utilized February 17 to 21 for the free days. I gave away almost 4000 free copies and interestingly, Book 1 and 2 in the time travel series jumped from about 180k and 225k in the ranking to 17k by the end of the 5 days. Treasure So Rare hit #2 and #3 in Kindle Free books and #10 to #5 in free Kindle Time Travel and
fantasy.
top 2 in kdp select treasure so rare
I did a Romance of the Week promo for Once Upon a Remembrance through Kindle Nation Daily in mid-January, and sold about 36 copies, but did not see any spillover to other books. January I sold 130 books total across all distribution places.

In February I sold 277 books, broken down below. Total eBook sales on Amazon Kindle for 2013 is now 399 eBooks and 25 everywhere else.

My experience with KDP is that my two other books in the series really got the attention from this promotion. Treasure So Rare has sold some copies (about 30), but that's been bouncing in the rankings after the promotion while Book 1 and Book 2 have remained at about 17 to 20k. How long this will last is a guess, but right now all my books are getting some spill over as far as I can see. Not only on the US Amazon but also the UK Amazon.

Since I have 9 romances available I believe that has made a different in KDP select. Readers have obviously searched out the other books in the series due to the increased exposure. Having 9 romances available instead of only 1 or 2 certainly seems to make a difference, especially if they’re in a series.Grace Brannigan KDP select
My next KDP experiment is upcoming first week of March, a book in my contemporary series, “Heartstealer”. I will report back at the end of March on that experiment.

Since things  have changed with KDP, we will see how this experiment turns out.

Once Upon a Remembrance

First book in the time travel trilogy is Once Upon a Remembrance. I'm very excited to be putting this trilogy out there. It was written back in the 1980's and I have totally revamped the Women of Strength Series. It was never published, but will be coming to an ebook device, computer, phone, etc., near you. I will be posting it on Amazon Kindle, Smashwords and also my website at www.GraceBrannigan.com for sale. I also sell my ebooks on etsy.com.

Time travels are the books I really, really enjoy. My first series were 4 books, contemporary romance, the Women of Character series, stand alone books about strong women and the cowboys who love them. This series is out and complete!

Now, the time travels are not your run of the mill read. There's twists and turns, adventure, strange time periods, moving from one time line to another, name changes. In other words, lots of fun to read!!

First book is Once Upon a Remembrance, Isabeau Remington, Hawk and Pierce Morgan. No, not a ménage a ̀trois. I don't write that, that's another author.

Isabeau gets bounced to 1894 and meets some interesting characters. Turns out someone is trying to kill Hawk Morgan, and she's the one who's pulled into that time to help him out. Hawk is a sea captain and plantation owner. Isabeau has a few secrets and a few tricks up her sleeve. You see, her family has time traveled before. And....

....that leads us into Soulmates Through Time. This story is set in the present time and 1822 and 1846. This story is about Elise Remington, Isabeau's 39 year old mother. She's a hot romance writer, but all she ever really wanted was Darien Remington, the man she's always loved. Elise was sent to the 21st century and Darien's been back in time. They've been separated 24 years. That's a long time for true love to hold up. Imagine Darien's surprise and anger when Elise shows up back in 1846! She's lived not a day without thinking of Darien, while he's done everything possible to erase her from his memory.

There's many paranormal elements that I hope my readers will thoroughly enjoy, not the least of which is Mandine the gypsy. And now....

Treasure So Rare is the third and last in the time travel trilogy. This is Erik Remington's story, a handsome pirate with a silver tongue. In 1849, Erik's ship gets sucked into a vortex and pulls him into the middle ages. Forced to assume another identity, Erik comes face to face with the sea witch who's haunted him for three years, and she thinks he's the marauder who attacked her many years before. How can trust ever  survive when built on lies and deception?

Short excerpt Once Upon a Remembrance time travel

copyright 2012 Grace Brannigan

Hawks Den, Virginia

                                                                 Prologue
In the half light before dawn, Pierce Morgan drove toward Hawk’s Den. He had driven all night to get here, hardly understanding the urgency that gripped him. Pierce stopped his truck and stared at the once majestic plantation house Hawk’s Den. Forlornly, the old home he grew up in sat before him, paint faded and worn. The house was shuttered and still as light began to break, the wrap-around veranda partially concealed by a tangle of brilliant-hued azaleas.
He strode across the stone-lined path to the house, taking the shallow porch steps three at a time. The ornate entry door lay at a drunken angle and he shoved it aside as if it weighed little. Stepping inside, he paused as the stench of stale air bore down upon him.
Arrows of light peered through the closed shutters, but Pierce knew where to find the staircase to the second floor. Quickly, he climbed the stairs, his flashlight beam bouncing across the walls.
On the second floor numerous doors lined a wide, oak-beamed hallway. He walked to the last doorway and entered the chamber. Water-stained wainscoting and pieces of tin ceiling littered the floor. Furniture had been stacked willy-nilly in a corner, once prized oak and cherry pieces, now likewise stained by weather and neglect.
Shoved against the far wall was an enormous oak bed. Pierce walked through strewn feather ticking, then knelt beside a small bedside table. His fingertips tingled as he turned the table upside down. Immediately, he saw the book lodged in the drawer track. Feeling almost lightheaded, he pried it loose and slowly sank down against the wall.
The book’s leather cover was frayed and worn, held together by a gold mesh strap and clasp. Pierce undid the clasp and very carefully opened the journal.
He flipped the pages to the first handwritten entry, the tightness in his chest almost unbearable. "1878, April 2, I fear I shall never live to see land again . . .."
Sweat beaded on his forehead. The journal confirmed that six months lost in time had not been a wild dream. He had loved a woman back in time, 1894, and somehow he had to find her again.
Isabeau.
